Bred by the Tersk Stud in Russia and foaled on April 13, 1950, the grey stallion *NABORR (originally called Nabor) earned his first title at the All-Union Agricultural Fair in Moscow. Named Reserve National Champion in the all-breed event, *NABORR placed second to his sire, NEGATIV. In 1955 *NABORR was imported to the Michalow State Stud in Poland, where he sired 61 offspring.

*NABORR was purchased by Anne McCormick of Scottsdale in 1963, even though he was not officially listed for sale. He made the 44-day transatlantic voyage with *BASK++ and 13 other Polish Arabians during violent storms, and for many days was neither fed nor watered.

In 1969, at the age of 19, *NABORR set a world auction record when he was sold for $150,000 to Tom Chauncey at the McCormick Dispersal Auction. He did not stand as a stud in the United States until shortly afterwards. During his US stud career, *NABORR sired 365 foals, more than 125 of which went on to earn well over 1,200 championships, reserve championships, top tens and top fives. In 1970 *NABORR was presented at the Oklahoma City Nationals as one of the ten Living Legend Stallions. *NABORR died November 9, 1977.
