Breed History:
The Paso Fino was brought to the America's by Christopher Columbus on his second voyage. It is a mixture of Andalusian, Barb and the now extinct Spanish Jennet.Used as the foundation stock for remount stations of the Conquistador, as they carried their riders for days over mountains, open ranges, and dense jungles. Over time, because of of its smooth "no-bounce" ride it became known as Los Caballos de Paso Fino, "the horse with the fine step".
